Max 10 Access in Stratix 10 DX

Hi Intel Members,

In Intel Stratix 10 DX board (https://www.terasic.com.tw/cgi-bin/page/archive.pl?Language=English&CategoryNo=248&No=1258). I get to know that it has max 10 too.  I wish to know the possibilities and suggestions on the followings,

1. Is there any possibility to program and use max 10 alone without disturbing the Stratix 10 FPGA in the evaluation board?

2.If so is it possible to access some of the chipset present in the boards like EM2310, MAX6581, EM2410 etc thorough max 10 device without make use of Stratix 10 FPGA?

3. What is the significant of the use of max 10 device in that board ?
4. Should we need to set any configuration switches or jumpers to use max 10 alone.

Your suggestions and comments are highly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi,
purpose of the MAX10 system controller is described in user manual and becomes more obvious if you study the dev board schematics. It can be accessed via JTAG header, but you rarely want to modify or replace MAX10 content because you'd loose essential functions of the dev board, e.g. Stratix 10 USB JTAG programmer and configuration flash.
I presume the MAX10 design isn't disclosed by Terasic as for other dev boards. If you feel that you are missing necessary information about MAX10 operation, e.g. regarding configuration controller features for remote update, contact Terasic support. They are really helpful.
