Old Time MAX7000A help required

Hi All

Im very new to this site so hello to all!

I have been tasked to make some new Firmware for a very old piece of equipment using a MAX7000A device but Quartus only supports MAX7000AE.

The facts are that I seem to be able to program newer 7000AE parts with old 7000A pof files but not the other way around.

So my question is how can I get a MAX7000AE pof file, generated from Quartus, to program into a MAX7000A device.

I thank you in advance for any response.

You might have to use MAX+plus II, but I recommend filing a service request to see whether there is a way to get Quartus to support your old device.

Thanks Brad

It is very frustrating because as far as I can see the 7000A and 7000AE are virtually the same device (smaller faster process) so I should be able to place a AE pof into a A device (watching the timings)... just that the programming tools will not let me.

Many Regards

Quartus V8.1 still has MAX7000A device files in the devinfo, I'm not sure about their purpose. It may be the case, that some MAX7000A devices can be enabled optionally.

Just download the older Max+II tools and be done with it.

Hi FvM,

Where can we find the Quartus V8.1?

Thanks for your help.
