SATA I/F on a stratix II

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to add a sata interface to a stratix II and was wondering:

Does anyone know of an stratix II eval board that has a sata interface ?

Has anyone successfully implemented a sata phy in an altera part? If not does anyone know of a external phy that has been used with an altera device?

I've seen the nuvation site and it appears they have used an external phy, but external phy's seem hard to come by.

Thanks,

Any response is greatly appreciated.

Hi, Did you find something? What was it?

If not, would a daughter card like this w/ SMA-SATA help?

... perhaps used with something like:

As far as I see, S2GX transceivers are missing some features needed for SATA/SAS interface, e.g. the off-band signaling circuit. They are available with Arria II or Stratix IV.

Cause SATA interfaces are mostly included with today's PC chipsets and other mass market components, there's a limited choice of suitable SATA PHYs or controllers. The most easy solution is possibly a cheap PATAtoSATA bridge chip.
