TI TFP410 DVI Transmitter for VGA Display

Hi,

I was trying to display an image on a VGA monitor through the BITEC DVI I/O HSMC daughter board. The HSMC daughter card uses TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TFP410 DVI TRANSMITTER. So I was wondering whether if I send the pixel data alongwith the sync signals to the TFP410 transmitter and use a DVI-VGA adapter and connect a VGA monitor to the other end of the adapter, would that work ?

I dont find any DAC in the TFP410 transmitter or on the board (Please point out if I have not noticed one on the board). So I was wondering if it was possible to display VGA data.

I am using Altera Cyclone III development board for this purpose.

Thank you.

you're on the right track looking for a DAC, but i don't think you'll be able to use a passive DVI to VGA adapter with the Bitec board
