What FPGA should be used to run a single channel LVDS LCD panel and run video processing to play movies.

That's a bit of an open-ended question... Does cost matter? How about power consumption? Are you looking at buying IP or writing it yourself?

Cost and Power both matters. I want a lowest power and size solution. I want to drive a 2.5" to 3" custom made LCD panel. Not sure about buying an IP. I can write it myself. Is there a tool that can make it easy?

Personally, I'm a big fan of Cyclones as they're cheap and powerful enough for what I do. That said, if you're doing decompression (I'm assuming you're using compressed video) on the fly, you'll definitely need hardware multipliers, so that implies Cyclone II or higher. What kind of external memory are you using and where are you pulling your data in from?

I'm not aware of any tools out there that'll make it easier although OpenCores.org might have some...

Not sure about external memory yet. I am thinking of using storage device. How do I get in touch with Altera Sales Rep.

Hi,

You should take a look at Terasic kits. They have some solution for video.
