Can 3 drives be added as JBOD without destroying the existing RAID1?

We have a system with an Intel Integrated RAID module RMS3CC080 firmware version 24.15.0-0023. This is set up as a RAID1 plus hot spare as follows. VD0 is slots 0 and 1 and slot 2 is the hot spare. We would like to add 3 new drives to operate as a JBOD. Can this be done without destroying the RAID1 VD0 ? Currently the adapter settings show "Enable JBOD no". The customer purchased the 3 drives as an upgrade but we were sent no instructions to accomplish this. Can this be done without destroying the existing RAID1?

Hi Mike,

What I have done in the past with the RMS3CC080 (Coffee Canyon) adapter is to add the JBOD disks as 3 single disk RAID 0 volumes. They will show up as individual virtual disks and will not affect your current existing RAID 1 config. They may need to mark the drives as online in the Windows Disk Management Console after creating the RAID 0 volumes

For example:

VD_0 - Existing RAID 1

VD_1 - New single disk RAID 0

VD_2 - New single disk RAID 0

VD_3 - New single disk RAID 0
