Can I download the latest Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) User Interface and Driver for Intel® 7th Gen and Later Platform if I do not have a current BIOS update?

Trying to figure out do i do this driver update Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) User Interface and Driver for Intel® 7th Gen and Later Platform if I never updated my BIOS system. I dont know if the rst is linked to bios but i dont want to screw my system up. I choose not to do the latest bios update so Im running a bios from 2018.

Do you need RST? If you do not, then you do not need to install it.

Regarding a bios update, you should contact the manufacturer of your laptop or desktop and see if there is a new bios available. There likely have been security updates in the bios which you should apply.

Going further, remember that portions of the RST firmware is included in BIOS update packages. If you are going to use RAID or Optane, I definitely recommend upgrading to the latest BIOS update package for your board.
