Can't create new RAID 1 volume and keep data from one disk?

Two weeks ago I had a motherboard failure on my desktop PC. New motherboard was installed and set-up yesterday (Gigabyte X99P-SLI)

I have an SSD as the boot disk with the operating system on it, plus

2 x 2Gb disks in a RAID 1 configuration

2 x 4Gb disks in a RAID 1 configuration.

I enabled IRST by setting the SATA configuration to RAID and rebooted. I can now see the menu in BIOS which I can access by pressing Control I. In this menu, the 2 x 2GB disks appear as member disks, but the two 4Gb disks appear in the listing as non-member disks.

When I upgraded PCs a few years ago to the X99 chipset, it was a simple case of using the windows application to create a new RAID volume, and keep the data from one of the two 4Gb disks (the data on each is identical).

However, when I go to do it this time, I don't get the option to keep the data from any of the disks.

I downloaded and upgraded to the latest version of IRST which was 15.7.0.1014, but that hasn't made any difference.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

John

John_Stewart: Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Processors communities. We will do our best in order to try to resolve this problem.

Just to let you know, the chipset on your board which is the Intel® X99 Chipset, is not compatible with Intel® RST 15.7, so please uninstall that version and install version 14.8:

Once you do that, please provide the system report:

And also please provide a screenshot of disk management.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Thanks - I wasn't aware that that the latest version wasn't compatible with X99 - it seems to be running OK otherwise.

I will download the previous version and install that once the array build is complete. I had a full backup of the contents of the 4Tb drives, so opted to initialise the volume and restore from backup. I'm hoping I don't have to rebuild the arrays after the un-install and re-install.

John_Stewart: You are welcome. Remember to wait for the array build process to get finished to install the previous version. Correct, you will not have to rebuild the arrays after the un-install and re-install procedure.

Any questions, please let me know.

Yes thanks, all sorted now.

It seems that you don't get the option to re-build an array keeping the data from one of the disks whilst another array is undergoing the verification process.

John_Stewart: You are very welcome. Perfect, and yes, that is correct, the option to re-build an array keeping the data from one of the disks whilst another array is undergoing the verification process will not be available. Thank you very much for letting us know that information.

Any questions, please let me know.
