Hello,

I’ve been seeing a S.M.A.R.T. event warning in Intel Rapid Storage Technology for over a month now. The message says:

"SATA disk on Controller 0, Port 0: At risk (SMART event)."

I haven’t taken any action to resolve the issue yet because I’m not sure what to do. My system is still functioning, but I’m concerned about whether this means my hard drive is failing or if there’s something else going on.

I’d appreciate any advice on what steps I should take to address this warning. Is the drive in immediate danger, and how should I proceed?

Thank you for your help!

First of all, RST is known to generate spurious, false-positive events. I would verify this using another tool - such as Crystal Diskinfo - that can display the S.M.A.R.T. data, so that the cause of the failure prediction (if indeed there is one) can be determined.
If there is a valid prediction, you need to get a replacement drive and copy all data off the failing drive onto the new drive. Do this immediately; don't take a chance of losing your data.
Hope this helps,
...S
