What are the specifications....Max # of drives....Max # of drives in a single array.....Max size (in TB) of an IRST array, etc. I have searched extensively on Intel site, but I have not found anything specific yet.
My current IRST driver for my Motherboard is:
Intel(R) RST 15.7.0.3054 RAID Driver
x299 chipset
Thanks in advance for help!

Hello AviatorDuck
Thank you for joining the community.
Allow me to share with you that looking into your chipset families Platform Controller Hub (PCH), in your case the x299, found that the maximum size for the RAID will be 265 TB, in case of the maximum number of drives that will be established by the number of ports connected to the SATA controller.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Leonardo C.

Still trying to get to the bottom of this.....I understand the points you are making and maybe that is true, but I literally just came across some information in the IRST software Help guide...under Contents>Creating a Volume>Volume Requirements that leads me to believe that it is limited to 5-6 drives.....
In the "Enabling more volume types" section there is a table. That table lists the varying volume types and has two entries for RAID5....one is for 3-4 disks, the other option is for 5-6 disks....there is no option listed for 7-8 disks which leads me to believe that RAID 5 can only be done with up to 6 disks...
can you confirm this?

Hello AviatorDuck
Thank you for your response.
Yes, you are correct; the max of drives that you could use for a RAID will be 5-6 in your PCH controller. you can refer to the following link for reference.
