M.2 PCIe as Cache

Hello,

Is it possible to use a M.2 PCIe as a cache drive for a RAID5 array ?

Thank you for contacting Intel Communities.

 

 

In this case, only SSDs up to SATA III speeds are allowed for acceleration, you can use either SATA interface or M.2 form factor (as long as it is SATA III and not NVMe).

Is it compatible with the Z270 platform ?

I don't see it in the user guide :

System requirements

  • Intel® Z68, Z87, Q87, H87, Z77, Q77, or H77 Express Chipset-based desktop board

According to the specifications, the Intel® Z270 Chipset does support RAID 5, you can confirm the information https://ark.intel.com/products/98089/Intel-Z270-Chipset here, under I/O specifications.

 

 

It is also recommended to check the motherboard's specifications found on the manufacturer's website.
