Hello everybody,

during the last days, I tracked down the reason why my new Dell Inspiron 7520 with an Intel® SSD 311 Series

(20GB, mSATA 3Gb/s, 34nm, SLC) did not accelerate how it should; I documente it here :

BIOS-Information :

The two drives (HDD and SDD) :

Everything looks good until now :

waiting ...

Result

Also a second try after the suggested reboot did not get the desired success :

My System Configuration :

BTW, I did the first acceleration under Windows 7 and would like to use it under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as well. Were anybody being successful in using a RST-configuration done with Windows under Linux and mdadm ??

I'm also having this problem, also with a Dell (Vostro 3460).

The windows installation added 2 NTFS partitions and I also have another 2 for linux.

Is intel working on a solution or has a workaround, reinstalling the system isn't much of an option to me.

Also, my BIOS doesn't show RAID as one of the SATA options, it shows IRST (which is selected).

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback.

Just verifying, were all those partitions created in the mechanical drive, correct?

Yes, all those partitions are at the HDD

the SSD is currently unpartitioned.

Thanks again; we will take a look into it.

By the way, what chipset model is this, HM77?

hi , reviving the old post as my dell inspiron 15z is suffering from the same exact issue , everything seems fine until I try o accelerate the system disk and then it returns with an error which says an unknown error occurred. Is there a fix for this issue ?

Please leave some unallocated space in the mechanical drive. I believe 100 MB should be enough but otherwise increase the amount and try again.
