Where are the 64 bit downloadable driver files (F6 / floppy) for RST 14.8.14.1061 ?

Intel has been really good about providing zips, execute-ables and 32/64 bit driver only packages for as long as I can remember ...

but the F6/Flpy files are absent from the RST 14.8.14.1061 page.

Download SetupRST.exe to an easily navigable directory (e.g. C:\Temp\).

Create a directory for extracted files in C:\Temp, like C:\Temp\Ext\

Open an Administrative Command Prompt and navigate to the directory you saved SetupRST.exe in: CD /D C:\Temp\

Type:

setuprst -extract C:\Temp\Ext\

In C:\Temp\Ext\ there is:

media1.cab

RST_x64.msi

RST_x86.msi

If you don't already have it installed, download and install 7-zip: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Use 7-zip to extract the RST_x64.msi or RST_x86.msi to a new directory. e.g. C:\Temp\Ext\RST_x64\

In C:\Temp\Ext\RST_x64\ there are a bunch of files. Use 7-zip to extract drivers.cab in C:\Temp\Ext\RST_x64

After all of that, you will have the drivers you are looking for.

Thank you very much to Gize2 for the information provided previously.

aga2015, Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology communities.

In regard to your inquiry, according to our web site, for the Intel® RST version 14.8.14.1061 there are no F6 drivers available, let me apologize for that, however on the link below you will find the latest F6 drivers we have available that you can always try to install:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24779/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-?product=55005 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24779/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-?product=55005

Please let us know the results of trying those drivers.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto

Thanks Alberto.

Thanks to Gize2 too. I went through the extraction process as you laid out and got what I needed. Easy deal !

But this goes back to Alberto. It still begs the question ... why would anyone recommend such a down level F6 package?

I was migrating from RST 14.8.0.1042 (which incidentally has the F6/Flpy package) so having a referral back to RST 13 or anything so dated is quite honestly inane.

Not what I expected from Intel. Perhaps you should have asked what level I was already at.

Just sayin ...

aga2015, You are welcome. Thank you very much for letting us know that information, it is great to hear you were able to install the F6 drivers by following the steps provided by Gize2.

The reason why I gave you that link, is because those are the latest F6 drivers available in our web site, and they might help in the case the Hard Drive is not recognize by Windows and the moment of the installation. It was just an alternative, since after you install Windows you can always upgrade the Intel® RST to the version you are trying to use.

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto

Thank you for the quick reply Alberto.

I do have a question then. If someone wants the latest drivers, then the F6 drivers of the latest version inherit the latest improvements? Correct?

aga2015, You are very welcome.

In regard to your question, yes, that is correct, the reason why the F6 drivers are needed, is when the hard drive is not being recognize by Windows during the installation of it, so, even if you use the drivers from the Intel® RST version 13.6.0.1002, once you install Windows you will be able to install the latest version of RST, and it will include all the features and fixes of that specific version.

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto

So are the system files, the cab file and the other bits in the typical F6 stand alone package (or extraction) representative of the improved drivers with their inherent efficiencies?

There isn't much difference between 14.8.0.1042 and 14.8.14.1061 according to the release notes, and probably the reason why there are no bare driver downloads: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26700/eng/release_notes_14_8_14_1061_pv.htm https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26700/eng/release_notes_14_8_14_1061_pv.htm
