Removing RST Product and Serial number from SSD

I had a pair of SSDs in a WIndows PC running Intel RST on the motherboard in a RAID 1 config.

The motherboard died (without me being able to remove the RAID) and I need to reuse the drives in a non-raid configuration.

One drive is fine and has the original product model number and serial number.

The other drive reports the Product name as  "RAID 1 Volume Intel", Product Rev as "1.0" and the serial number as the name of my previous RAID.

What tools can I use to return Product ID, Product Revision and Serial number to their original pre-RST values.

Try to use Diskpart clean command from the Administrative Command Prompt.

If you have no intention of ever using these drives in systems that will have RAID enabled, then you don't actually have to do this, but I recommend that you do the following:

  1. Enter BIOS Setup.
  2. Enable RAID (set SATA Mode to RAID).
  3. Save and exit BIOS Setup.
  4. Invoke the RAID firmware (typically done via CTRL-I).
  5. Mark the drives as NOT being an a RAID array.
  6. Re-enter BIOS Setup.
  7. Disable RAID (set SATA Mode to AHCI).
  8. Save and exit BIOS Setup.
  9. Test.

You should be able to do this with the drives connected to any Intel-based motherboard; it does not need to be the original motherboard.

Hope this helps,
