I was trying to backup my internal HDD when my laptop froze and copying of files did not progress. Given this, I ejected the external hard drive then shut down my laptop. After opening the laptop again, the HDD is missing in the Windows File Explorer then the Intel Rapid Storage Technology notification - "SATA available disk: Removed." and "SATA disk in Controller 0, Port 0:Det.. " popped up.
