The Total AV software is telling me to uninstall Intel Rapid Storage on my computer for it to activate real-time scanner. Is this ok to do? What will be the effect on my computer?

Why do your have Intel RST installed in the first place? Are you using Optane or RAID? If you are, then you should NOT uninstall it. If you are not, you can go ahead and uninstall it - but understand that this may make your system drive not bootable. Normally, before installing Windows onto the system, you enable/disable Intel RST in the BIOS based upon whether you plan to use Optane or RAID. Sometimes, if the system becomes unbootable, you can recover by booting up into Safe Mode and then shutting down.

Hope this helps,
