Hi,
I just successfully installed the IRST driver during a Windows 10 installation,
and as a dual boot, I was able to install an Ubuntu as well next to the Windows.
However, it turned out that for various reasons occasionally I still need to use Windows 8.1
The problem is that I cannot find an appropriate IRST driver for it,
and hence it is not able to recognize the SSD.
Of course, I know that the IRST is not supported on Windows 8.1 and Linux OSs,
but since I was able to install an Ubuntu I was wondering if there is a trick to use
during the Windows 8.1 installation.
I know that the benefits provided by the IRS Technology will not be available,
but that is not a problem for me.
So, my question is that is there any way to install Windows 8.1 on an SSD which requires
the IRST driver in order for the Windows to recognize it during its installation?
Thank you!
Cheers,
József

Hello jkobori,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST).
I would like to let you know, that our drivers are generic and the latest Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) drivers are only compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
You can check the supported operating systems for the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) in the following link:
In this case, I recommend you to check with the computer manufacturer (Asus, MSI, Acer, HP, etc) to confirm if they have a customized Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) driver version compatible with Linux or Windows 8.1.
Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel.
