Hello Matheew,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I can imagine how frustrating this is for you and to help you further, I would like to confirm the following:
1. Have you checked with Asus to confirm if the motherboard is compatible with your storage device?
2. Do you have any issues with the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST)?
3. What is the BIOS version installed in your Asus ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4?
4. Have you tested a different storage device with your Asus ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4?
Regards,
Deivid A.

Hello Matheew,
Thanks for your patience. Based on the investigation, this does not look like an issue related to the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) tool but with the Windows installer.
I recommend you try with a different Installer/ISO and check if the problem persists.
Regards,
Deivid A.

Hello Matheew,
Thanks for your time. In this case, the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) driver works after the operating system installation, and any processor before that point will depend on the motherboard side.
I recommend you to check with the motherboard manufacturer to confirm any installation steps and they can also check for any malfunction with the motherboard.
Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel.
Ragards,
