Z790 bios Update kills intel RST raid

Hi,

I just updated my bios and intel RST raid 0 array got messed up. This is my second time having this exact issue.

Here's my setup:

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 aorus elite ax-w
SSD configuration: 1 nvme for system, 3 nvme for raid 0. VMD is enabled for all the nvmes.

Here are some screenshots of the intel optane memory and storage management software and bios,

but basically one of the drive got kicked out from the raid 0 array.  I think data is not lost, only the configuration is messed up.

Is there a way to manually put the poor drive back into the raid array?

I found people complaining about this issues everywhere, but none of them seem to be solve.  (looks like MSI and Gigabyte motherboards are having this issue?).

I feel this feature should be disabled because average users like me don't really expect updating motherboared bios to mess up the raid.

Hello Taichi,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I would be upset in this situation and to help you with this issue I would like to gather the following:

1. Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system.

2. Just to confirm, after you performed the BIOS update, one of your 3 disks was out of the RAID 0. Is that right?

3. What is the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) version?

4. Are you using the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) version from Intel or Gigabyte?

Hello,

I had the same after Z590 Aorus BIOS update from F9 to F10b.
These guides allowed me to recover the data.

Instead of TestDisk, I've used Paragon Partition Manager Community Edition to indelete quickly the partitions.

Repair incorrectly reported broken/failed Intel RAID0 - Intermittent Technology

If you are familiar with Linux, you can try this
