After that, I'm trying to install Windows 2008 R2, but the initial level is loading from the installation disk, and then drastically goes into reboot.

Good afternoon Dear experts!

I had the following problem, and I can not figure out what it is related to.

I use the S5500BC motherboard, to which the RAID controller RS2BL080 is connected in the quantity of 1 pc.

This RAID controller worked on SATA HDD in the amount of 6 pcs.

After 1200 days of HDD operation, the OS with RAID ceased to run.

I checked the SATA HDD and they are all working.

I created a new RAID configuration of 1 or 0.

After that I succeeded, where it is written that VD0 is created and online.

After that, I'm trying to install Windows 2008 R2, but the initial level is loading from the installation disk, and then drastically goes into reboot.

What is the reason for this?

The BIOS has RAID boot enabled.

Can you help with this issue?

Hello Alexander Podlesny,

Thank you for contacting Intel Technical Support.

I understand that you are trying to install Windows 2008 R2; the initial level is loading from the installation disk, and then drastically goes into reboot.

Based on this information; is the reboot turns out into a blue screen of death or just reboots? Can you please provide the full configuration of the server? Have tried a different installation disk?

Your prompt response is highly appreciated.

Regards,

Jeremiah A.

Good afternoon.

I get the following:

1. Boot with IDA iso disk

2. Then create a RAID

3. After that, I specify the driver, and it creates USB Key (10 mb), then says that I do not pop-up until the installation is complete,

4. The installation disk for the original Windows 2008 R2 image is booted, and after the download line appears, a sharp reboot occurs,

With what it is connected I do not know.

How do I know that Raid controller rs2bl080 I have a worker?

Also for what reason is it reloaded, most likely due to RAM?

Hello Alexander,

Could you try doing the installation without the RAID controller? I mean performing the installation in a single hard drive, that way we can determine if it is an issue with the controller, hard drive or memory ram.

Also, how many memory stick does the server have? In case it has more than one, you could try doing the installation with one at the time.

Regards,

Adrian M

Good afternoon, Dear technical support of Intel in the person of specialist Adrian M!

Thank you very much for your advice in your community.

In the end, I found out, as you said.

The given problem was one operative memory which from 4 pieces, buggy.

Also, when testing MemTest86, it was not detected on errors, but with this one buggy memory, the OS can not boot up and has to automatically reboot.

Based on this, I detected HDD states, where from 6 HDDs - on one already had a bad block, with RAID 0.

I also learned how to work with IDA and drivers, where I successfully installed the licensed OS Windows 2008r with a regular disk OS with work slats.

I now have more experience.

Also I wanted to learn from you where to take a course on RAID and get a certificate on the result of testing? Because I am a Master of Technical Specialty and I need to pass such a course.

Hello Alexander,

I hope you are doing well today.

I'm glad to hear that we were able to help solve the issue.

Regarding the RAID courses, Intel does not provide such courses. I recommend you checking RAID training videos in Youtube. Please let us know if there is something else we can help you or if we can proceed in closing this case.

Best Regards,

Good afternoon.

Thank you for your prompt support.

The question arises as an experienced specialist.

We use Intel-RAID-Controller-RS2BL080,

and want to buy hard drives,

can you recommend us a choice?

1. Intel® 510 Series Solid State Drive

2. Solid state drive DC400 - 480GB

3. SAS Seagate Enterprise Performance 10K hard drive. 300 GB 2.5 "

HDD 10K, ST300MM0048, 10000rpm, 128MB, SAS 6Gb / s

In the number of 4-6 connections to the server board S5500BC through the controller Intel-RAID-Controller-RS2BL080 to use the information database 1s.

Thank you, I will wait for your recommendation.

Hello Alexander,

Thank you for your quick response.

To answer your questions about which drives we recommend for you to use with the Intel-RAID-Controller-RS2BL080, I recommend you checking the Hard Disk Drives and Solid State Drives (SSD) tested list. This list can be found https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/motherboards/server/sb/rs2bl0x0_rms2mh080_rs2vb0x0_rs2pi008_rs2mb044_thol.pdf here, page 17 topic 6.1.

Please let me know if this information helps answer your question.

yes, thank you very much, but in the list I did not see server hard drives:

Solid state drive DC400

and there is no recommendation from Intel 6Gb / s ...

If you have recommendations, please inform.

Thank you.

Hi Alexander,

In the list there is the Intel SATA 6GB/s 510 series listed. Regarding the Solid state drive DC400, this one is not showing as a tested drive yet for the time this document was published, but you will see the DC 3700 series. We are not allow to recommend a specific drive to be with this RAID controller but we invite you to use anyone from the tested list.

I hope this information helps to clarify your query.
