RAID Driver for Intel S3000AH motherboard Windows Server 2008 R2

Support for this motherboard has ended. This board had been purchased 02/01/2007. However, with the release of Windows Server 2008 R2, it's like breathing new life into a server that still has adequate speed. Currently I have an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor in the system with still room to grow.

Sadly, there is no W2K8 R2 driver for the Intel Embedded RAID, Intel® ICH7R I/O Controller.

Hey INTEL!!! Can you make a driver please??? I purchased your board with the consideration that I could later upgrade it keeping up with technology. Thanks in advance.

As for other readers, if you know of a 3rd party driver source, please point me in the right direction.

Just install windows 2003 and then upgrade it to 2008 R2. It's worked for me several times

Sorry for the delay in response. I had this server offline for several months and finally got it back on. Anyway, I believe the above link has the unapproved but working drivers.

Hi! I solve my problem 3 weeks ago. My RAID worked on LSI controller! It was my mistake? When I change in BIOS RAID to Intel Matrix Raid - it starte work in Server 2008 R2! (I don't remeber what driver I used, because I had a lot of Intel's driver for Martix. But one of them helped me!). So, s3000AH with Intel Matrix RAID - work! Good luck!

The Intel Matrix RAID is a software RAID. LSI is hardware RAID. Check this out and see what applies to you:

I prefer hardware RAID

I've just installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on Intel S3000AHLX.

It was clean install. Thank to manual on Windows Vista driver for LSI RAID.

I've take it from here

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Server+Products&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+Server+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Server+Board+S3000AH http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Server+Products&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+Server+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Server+Board+S3000AH

Windows Vista -> Drivers -> Software RAID Drivers for Microsoft Windows

Windows setup determine LSI RAID Storage.

I can't explain that Vista drivers can work on Windows Server 2008 R2. But they do!

I'm happy!

Yeah Baby!! We have a WINNER!! Thanks Doc...you ROCK!

Got the RAID drive to be recognized on the Windows Server 2008 installation!! Works like a charm. Perhaps Intel may want to grab the file and incorporate into their driver set and make a whole bunch of Server Admins happy!
