Is it possible to add HDD's to RAID 10 array on RS2BL080 without array distruction? For example, i have RS2BL080 + 4 hdd on raid 10 volume with data. I wanna scale my storage by additional 4 hdd to increase volume space twice. But i don't want move my data and remake new array of 8 disks. Is it possible?

Hello gekm,

What you describe its officially called an Online Capacity Expansion.

You should be able to accomplish it by following the steps listed on the following article: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/server-products/raid-products/000007571.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/server-products/raid-products/000007571.html

If you have any other questions just let us know.

I don't think it can be done for RAID 10 (two spans), info here: https://www.broadcom.com/support/knowledgebase/1211161503168/how-to-expand-an-array-on-megaraid-controllers-adding-drives-to- https://www.broadcom.com/support/knowledgebase/1211161503168/how-to-expand-an-array-on-megaraid-controllers-adding-drives-to-

The RS2BL080 is a rebranded LSI MegaRAID 9260-8i. Avago bought LSI, then Avago was bought by Broadcom, hence the Broadcom link above.

I don't think there is anything that is Intel specific that can do it either.

Hello gekm,

Just to add something important let me tell you that this is only possible in non-spanned volumes such as RAID 0,1, and 5. This cannot be done in RAID 10, 50 or 60. More information is listed in Software Users Guide https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/d29305023_raid_swug_r23_5.pdf https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/server-products/d29305023_raid_swug_r23_5.pdf
