Hi,

I have a S2600WFT that i was hoping to update to the latest firmware version.

My current version is:

BIOS Rev : SE5C620.86B.02.01.0012.070720200218
Mgmt Engine (ME) FW Rev : 04.01.04.381
BMC FW Rev : 2.48.7105ef7b

And i need to get to the following versions to get be able to install the latest version:

System BIOS - R02.01.0016
ME Firmware - 04.01.04.804
BMC Firmware - 2.88.71773d70
FRUSDR - 2.04

Only the latest version seems to be available on the website (02.01.0017).
If possible, could i please get the update files between these two sets, so i can incrementally update to the latest version?

Thanks

Hi Perrynaise,

Thank you for reaching out to Intel Community.

We appreciate you reaching out to us regarding the reported issue. Please be informed that the old BIOS was removed as Intel recommends to use the latest firmware update package which is available on Download Center.

The old BIOS packages will be shared under NDA for reference only, therefore, could you please share with us if you have any NDA numbers?

Along with that, you can directly upgrade BIOS to version R0017.

Looking forward to your response.

Fikri

Hi Fikri

I am so sorry I've only just seen your responses, the email update notifications for this got sent to my spam for some reason.

Unfortunately i don't have an NDA number, or at least i assume i don't (i don't know what it is).  Do you mean literally an NDA (as in the legal document "Non-Disclosure Agreement"), or is NDA an account number or something?

You mention that i can upgrade directly to the latest BIOS version R0017, skipping all intermediate versions from R0012?

I just want to confirm that this is safe, even though my system is 5 versions behind for BIOS?

What about the Management Engine or BMC?  Can they also be directly upgraded to the latest version, skipping the (at 5 or so jumps in) intermediate versions?

As @Asabacky mentioned, the upgrade instructions specify a minimum version requirement to upgrade from, that i do not meet.

Is the documentation wrong?

The download for R0017 says:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18911/intel-server-board-s2600wf-family-bios-and-firmware-update-package-for-uefi.html?wapkw=S2600WFT

"Requirements
Minimal version of current BIOS and Firmware are required to perform a new BIOS and firmware update. If you try upgrading directly from an older BIOS version to a new version but do not meet firmware requirements, the upgrade may fail. Before you perform a new BIOS and firmware update, please verify current BIOS and firmware versions on your server systems. To update the system firmware stack to the versions included in this update package, the currently loaded system firmware stack on the system must meet the following:

  • System BIOS - R02.01.0016
  • ME Firmware - 04.01.04.804
  • BMC Firmware - 2.88.71773d70
  • FRUSDR - 2.04

If the system doesn't currently meet the BIOS and firmware requirements, you must download a previously-posted System Update Package (SUP) from Other Versions list of this web page and update the system to the preceding described firmware revisions before updating the system to the firmware stack included your downloaded Firmware Update Package. Failure to get to the required firmware stack, may cause unexpected results. "

Thanks for your help, i really appreciate it.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Regards,

Perrynaise

Hi everyone,

I was dealing with the same problem and stumbled upon this post. If it is possible and even recommended to update directly (from the version Perrynaise was on to the newest one) using the newest firmware package, would it be possible to change the packages description and the update instructions in the package?

It's quite confusing and frankly searching for the old packages or a definitive answer is a waste of time.

Best regards,

Asabacky
