Hi,
We have an S1200BTLR board, version G21110-353. We have asked for a compatible CPU and have been sent the Xeon E3-1220v3. The http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-032414.htm Server Products — Tested Processor List does not list any v3 processors at all. Does this mean that the one we have received is not at all compatible, or maybe it's just a more recent yet still compatible CPU? Thanks.

Hi,
We would like to inform you that the E3-1220 v3 is compatible with the Intel® Server Board S1200RP Family only:

Thank you for your response. So how should we proceed? I've read different things about this board.
Can we get a v2 and it will work out of the box in a new -353 motherboard?
Or do we need to get a v1 CPU first, then upgrade the BIOS in order to be able to use a v2 xeon?
Thanks.

Hello,
To answer your question, the V2 processor should work fine with a 353 revision board.
