I have 3 Windows Vista computers that I am connecting up to Sony Bravia KDL40S2000 LCD tvs using a VGA connection. The computers are Dells with and intel Q965/Q963 Express Chipset. I am trying to run the screens at there default resolution of 1366 x 768, but this is not an option. The only resolution close to this that works is 1280 x 768, however this leaves black bars on each side of the image. I have downloaded the latest driver but this didn't make a difference. I have tried finding a display driver for the monitor (it shows up as generic display) but have been unable to find an available one. I also attempted to use PowerStrip to set a custom resolution, but this did nothing (I've read somewhere that PowerStrip doesn't work with Intel).
I found an article where they discussed editing the [NonEDIDMode_AddSwSettings] in the driver inf file, however I did not understand what all of these diffenet settings mean. Is this the best way to make this work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have found here from google and I see many people solved problems with resolution issues for LCD TVs. I got a problem with getting 1366x768 res from my laptop to LCD tv. The most successful res was 1280x768.
LCDTV: Panasonic TX-32LX70F
Laptop: MSI VR601 (gma x3100)
I connect them with VGA cable.
I couldnt be able get the raw EDID data from lcd tv it only shows the laptops screen. Form the manual of it I am sure the TV is capable of 1:1 on VGA connection 1366x768.
Can you give me some DTD data so I can basically open a 1366x768 resolution and use my lcd 1:1 pixel. Maybe a generic one would be even useful.
From the manual of LCDTV: 1366x768@60HZ 48.39Khz 60.04Hz maybe it helps.
I would be greatful if you can help me get 1:1 pixels from my laptop to lcd.
I have found here these data I dont understand this language but it might help?

aresmar,
Assuming that Modeline is accurate, your settings are
1F 23 58 A4 51 00 3A 30 1C A0 74 04 00 00 00 00 00 1E
Nox1, you can try that one, but every 136xx768 monitor is different.

That information seems to be about your laptop monitor, not the Panasonic. If you make the Panasonic the sole display, can you get information about it from the Diagnostics Report in the Intel Graphics Tray, or from MonInfo? Alternatively, run MonInfo on another computer (which does recognize it).
You need the EDID information from the Panasonic. My attempts to find it with Google have been unsuccessful, but you may succeed where I've failed.

Not finding anything out there which indicates your TV can actually do the native resolution (Googling "37PF5520 Modeline"didn't help me). Your EDID doesn't advertise 1368x768, and while your TV isn't listed at
http://pixelmapping.wikispaces.com/Philips+TVs
it may be illustrative that neither Philips sets which are listed can do the native 1368x768 resolution over VGA or HDMI.
If you can find someone on the Web who has gotten your TV working at 1368x768 and get their Powerstrip or Linux Modeline settings, I can help. But right now, your EDID isn't offering 1368x768, and that's probably why the Intel driver isn't either.

I have spent a couple of days taking examples from this forum and experimenting with different settings for the graphycs card on my notebook... no luck so far, so I hope you will be able to help.
I have a Panasonic Plasma display TH-50PH9WK and connect it over VGA. This panel is officialy told to support 1366x768 resolution... however i do not see it in the list MonInfo gave me. The best picture I got so far was on 1280x768, but is looks stretched. After experimenting with setting I was also able to get 1366x806 timing optio in my display settings but, when selected, plasma display says "no signal"
So questions are:
What is the native resolution of this display after all? 1366x768? or 1366x806?
How do I set up my notebook to display in this resolution?
Hoping for your soonest reply!
Here is what MonInfo gave me:

I suspect the EDID is corrupt/poorly designed-- the way the DTD for 1368x768 is written:
DF 21 56 AA 51 26 26 30 20 B5 03 06 4C 6C 42 00 00 18
there's 806 pixels across and then the sync pulse happens immediately and is 35 lines long. I suppose it's possible it was done that way on purpose, but I suspect it's an error on Panasonic's part andshould be something like
DF 21 56 AA 5100 26 30 20 B5 36 00 4C 6C 42 00 00 18
which is 3 lines before a sync pulse, then a 6 line long sync pulse, and a total number of lines at 806 with 768 active lines. Makes way more sense. Still can't guarantee it will work for you, but it's way more likely than what you've got.

Thanks for your reply! I actualy have very little understanding of how and why when it comes to setting up monitors and configuring graphics cards... So I would be very greatful, if you take me through a step-by-step explanation :) I thought it would be like connecting a 19" monitor to a computer and now it turns into science :P.
So far I know that there is MonInfo utility, that can help with getting monitor info, and there is an *.inf file within a driver package, that can be modified to get a desirable resolution. Sorry, but I have no idea what EDID or DTD are and what dressing those are usually served with :P
I learn fast, so hope you'll find some time to enlighten me.
Thanks in advance!

Best place to go to understand what's going on here is
http://softwarecommunity.intel.com/Wiki/Graphics/239.htm
It's got instructions and discussion.
You'll want to modify your .inf file or registry with the settings I just gave you and see if 1366x768 shows up in your list of resolutions (sounds like you already tried this with 1366x806), then you'll want to try it out.
The modification I'vesuggested is just my guess based on what I know about how DTDs are constructed and obvious errors someone might make in generating one.

"a) For the best picture quality when connecting a pc computer through RGB PC, set your pc
computer timing mode to VESA 1360 x 768 at 60Hz. Please refer to the pc or graphic
cards user guide for additional information on how to set the timing mode and the video
output requirements of the product.
b) A RGB (VGA) cable and stereo mini jack cable are not included and can be purchased at
an electronics store."
Only thing is I have no idea how to do this or even that I could change the resolution that far up. the 60Hz is easy. Just can't find anything on the computer timing mode, VESA, Or the 1360 x 768. I have a Nvidia GeForce Fx 5200.
Any other info on my cpu I can give you that will help you help me, just let me. Thanks.
