3D [body] scanning
I cannot find API for 3D [body] scanning (shown at MakerCon in New York http://www.ageekyworld.com/intels-3d-scanner-unveiled/ ) in RealSense SDK. Or I’m missing something…
If it is not there yet, when it will available?
Regards,

I just posted the following statement on the RealSense camera forum in answer to someone else who had asked about the 3D scanning function.
************
The RealSense SDK's information page says this:
"Capture and Share: (Available in a future release of the SDK). Use 3D scanning and printing capabilities to scan, modify, print, and share small objects ... Developed in conjunction with 3D Systems, Inc. to bring object scanning, editing, and printing to software developers."
I guess this means that the current version of the RealSense SDK we are using now cannot do the 3D scanning yet, and that for now it is something that is still being tested by Intel and will be released to the public later when it is ready for us to use.
An article about RealSense says that "Intel's RealSense technology comes in three forms: a front-facing camera (which captures facial movements, tracks fingers and hands, and detects backgrounds and foregrounds), a rear-facing camera (that can scan and measure rooms and objects), and a snapshot camera (which can alter photo backgrounds after a photo has been taken)".
Here's Intel's CES 2014 demo of 3D-scanning.

The external Realsense camera that is supported by the beta RealSense SDK requires USB3.0 (not hubbed). That camera also is intended for a limited FOV - face range around 35-70cm.
