945 - external dual monitor, lost 1280x1024 on one - stuck at 1024x768 on the other

So I came into work this morning and my resolutions had gone all wonky. I am using a Dell Latitude 520 with a 945 chipset.

Monitor 1: Hannsg JC199D (digital)
Monitor 2: Hannsg JC199D (analog)

connected through a docking station.

Monitor 1 works fine, it'll still go up to 1280x1024 fine, but Monitor 2 is locked in at 800x600 or 1024x768, no more choices - and can't change it through vista or intel software.

I have swapped connections, I have swapped docking stations, I've swapped cables, I've uninstalled drivers. Both monitors register as the models above in device manager, but when looking at the info for intel it says pnp. It's almost as if it thinks the analog monitor is the laptop monitor (it's top res is 1024x768)
