I'm trying to get my Panasonic AE900U projector to work at its native 1280 x 720 resolution. I have the latest drivers from Dell, as Intel's newer drivers won't install. As I type this, I'm in single display mode using the VGA connection to the projector. From what I can tell, the MONINFO is not really picking up the external display, but showing the laptop panel info instead:

That's not a valid DTD (pixel clock is 0MHz).

Hmmm... don't know whether drivers that old will work with this technique... Maybe the other poster (who appears to have the same laptop) has a suggestion for how to get Dell to cough up a new one.
With a modern driver, using the DTDCalculator tool mentioned in this Forum's thread on "Custom Resolutions Made Easier", you should be able to force a resolution to appear for this projector. Googling results in several Linux Modelines for this projector:
ModeLine "1280x720" 74.52 1280 1312 1368 1676 720 724 730 750 +hsync +vsync
Modeline "1280x720" 74.71 1280 1320 1368 1640 720 722 724 758 +hsync +vsync
ModeLine "1280x720" 74.5 1280 1312 1368 1676 720 724 730 750 +hsync +vsync
which translates to
1C 1D 00 8C 51 D0 1E 20 20 38 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
2F 1D 00 68 51 D0 26 20 28 30 22 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
1A 1D 00 8C 51 D0 1E 20 20 38 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
Try one of these in the "Reverse Calculation" tab of the aforementioned tool.

(My drivers 7.14.10.1364)
I try with DTD Calculator :
1C 1D 00 8C 51 D0 1E 20 20 38 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
=> VGA don't work
2F 1D 00 68 51 D0 26 20 28 30 22 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
=> Only 800x600 aviable (not 1024x768)
1A 1D 00 8C 51 D0 1E 20 20 38 46 00 00 00 00 00 00 1E
=> VGA don't work
Curious... I don't understand !

Unfortunately, I think that EDID block is from the laptop display; I don't think a Panasonic projector would come back as "Seiko-Epson Monitor".
But on the off chance that I'm way off, the DTD for 1280x800 listed is
BC 1B00 A0 50 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19

First, verify with the Search function of regedit that all instances of DTD_1 have been changed to
BC 1B00 A0 50 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19 37 01
and TotalDTDCount is >0.
If that seems to be the case, it's possible your BIOS has been hardcoded to refuse 1280x800... try fooling it with 1278x800:
BC 1BFE A2 40 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19

BC 1BFE A2 40 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19 => 1024x768 max
When I try with BC 1B FE A2 40 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 19 (and others), DTD say :
"Entered DTD and generated DTD don't match ! " and i'ts changed to BC 1B FE A2 40 20 17 30 30 20 26 00 4B CF 10 00 00 18 (and 1024x768 max)
I try to use 19 in redegit, but it's the same result : 1024x768 max.
Have you an idea ?

Afraid I'm not sure what's going wrong, then, tazdunord. Wo0zy on the AVSForum knows a lot more about the DTDCalculator tool, and I'm sure he'd love to help out.
Be sure when you use regedit that you are appending 37 01 to the end of any DTD you place, and have "Hide Modes This Monitor Cannot Display" unchecked in Graphics Properties. Other than that, I'm confused about why it's not working for you.
