Hi,
That Apple introduced tvOS yesterday (Sept 9), is probably well known by now..
Quite exciting as it offers a whole new set of opportunities for app developers.
Will we be able to use the XDK to make tvOS apps ? What are Intel's plans ?

Considering it was just announced, we do not have plans/road map. :)
There are many other things that we are working currently, so dont look for an announcement that we are supporting tvOS in the near future.

The goal of Intel XDK is to focus primarily on enabling the development of apps for mobile and web platforms. With the announcement of Apple tvOS yesterday, xCode is the only IDE that supports complete development of Apple tv set-top box apps for the Television. There are no future plans or product roadmaps to share at this time.

OK, but it seemed like a logical step to me.
It would be nice if one could develop once, deploy everywhere.
Until tvOS this was possible using the XDK.
I admit that I don't now much about tvOS, but it seems that it shouldn't be to different from iOS and if it has a webview component then deploying apps on tvOS should not be that difficult.
"just announced" : that tvOS comes as a complete surprise to Intel, seems strange given that
- Intel and Apple are very close (well maybe not on the software developement front)
- Apple surely has made preview versions of tvOS available under NDA to its partners ?
So if no plans for tvOS - what about the iPad Pro ;-)

As the XDK team does not have access to an iPad Pro or the new iPhone 6s (they are not made with Intel hardware, so we don't get any favors on that front), we can't say with certainty, but Cordova/XDK apps should work with them. The biggest caveat is that there may be a need to update the build system, if it requires a newer version of Xcode to build for iOS 9. I personally do not know what the Xcode requirements are for developing against iOS 9, but given that other devices will be upgradable to iOS 9, we'll definitely be supporting it.
