Can R200 work with Windows Hello

I've got a F200 camera working with Windows 10 Hello (works great with the recent updates) and was wondering if the R200 camera can also work with Windows Hello?

Great heard you got Windows hello works under F200. Currently I did not have plan to support R200 for Windows hello since R200 is for long range usage. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply David... I know many people who bought the R200 in hopes of using it as a Windows Hello device - especially since it is much smaller than the F200.  From my understanding the R200 is a superset of features of the F200 so am curious if there is any reason why it would NOT work with Hello other than the drivers not being available for Hello?  Also, while I have the F200 working it is not always accurate unless I sit close to my screen.  I have three 27" monitors I use and I have the F200 mounted on the middle monitor.  As you can imagine it's >2 feet away from my face and I normally have to lean forward to have it recognize me accurately.

I know I speak for a lot of us who purchased the R200 in hopes to see it work as a Windows Hello device.  Any chance we may see some support in the future?

Terry,

First, R200 is not a superset of F200. They are using different technologies. R200 is using Stereoscopic Technology  and F200 is using Coded Light Technology. R200 is focusing long range usage(0.5 meter to 3 meters) and F200 is short range(less 1 meter). The F200 can be pretty small to integrate into ultrabook. Since F200 is short range usage, you cannot sit too far away to use windows hello. Please let me know if you any question.

Thanks

Thanks again for the clarity on the technologies being used with both cameras.

With that being said, I was still hoping for possible support for the R200 with Windows Hello.  Do you anticipate this is something you might support?  Like I said, there are probably many people who would love to use the R200 for distances that are just outside the capabilities of the F200.

Great news David - do you have any ETA?  By end of year?

Terry, just to clarify, we have plan to support face recognition under R200 just for Intel RealSense SDK. For Windows 10 Hello, since it uses Microsoft own face recognition module, I do not know if it will support R200 in the future.

Terry G, thank you for asking those questions.  I have to say that I myself was a little unclear as well about the features and support for the new r200 camera compared to the f200 camera in relation to Windows Hello, and now also a little disappointed with the recent information shared by David.  All the same, it is good information to know. Thanks again guys.
