DCM 1.4 now available (Firmware 2.60)

DCM 1.4 for the F200 (user facing) Intel RealSense Camera is now available at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25044/.
Firmware version 2.60 will be installed to the camera, so be sure to have your system and camera plugged in. You should be able to upgrade from any previous version of camera firmware to this version. We do strongly suggest you uninstall (from Windows Control Panel > Uninstall Programs) any previous version of the Intel Depth Camera Manager (DCM).

I've loaded this on my Windows 10 (new machine - Intel 4th gen / USB 3 PC costing £1800) and for use with my newly received F200 camera however if I go into Windows settings and look to configure the Hello function I get:

blank.jpg

If I load the previous version of the software (intel_rs_dcm_f200_1.4.27.30007 - which I had downloaded last week prior to receiving the camera) I get a corrupted image:

If there any solution to getting this working as the kit was bought for the Hello functionality in Windows 10.

Thanks in advance.

I had similiar problems with DCM 1.4. They released a new hotfix that fixes the distorted image problem. Look for DCM 1.4 HF2.

Unfortunately this does not all the problems. The camera still seems to go to sleep and not wake up when required (Like when trying to log in using Windows Hello on Win10).

The HF2 release (intel_rs_dcm_f200_1.4.27.32425) is what I used first and was the application which gives the 'blank' Hello Setup Window.

Okay a bit of messing around tonight. The F200 was plugged into my Surface Pro 2 the HF2 software loaded. The internal camera was then disabled (as the Hello config wanted to use that as the camera in settings), and I rebooted. The F200 was then detected and used to set up the system on the Pro with no issues at all. This proved (thank all the gods) that the camera was not defective.

Turning back to the main PC I removed the installed drivers (removing all drivers from the PC via device manager, and then deleting the physical driver files out of the install directories and lastly removing the Intel software from the control panel. The PC was then rebooted the PC and left to detect the F200 anew. Once that had appeared in device manager I then installed the HF2 release (intel_rs_dcm_f200_1.4.27.32425) software.

From there into Hello settings and I had a non-corrupted image to work with configuring.

The only issue is that if I place the camera on top of my 24" HP monitor (twin monitor set up) then it is an inch over arm's length from my head to the camera - and that seems alas to be too far away to allow recognition to complete. To complete configuration I have to either move the monitor a good 6inches forward or use a mini tripod sat on the desk in front of the monitors. The latter is not ideal as the camera is then looking up at me which is not Skype friendly!

So far it is working and so far recognising me around 50% of the time (more training needed I guess). I'm hoping improvements to the software will allow some sort of zoom control so one can zoom in on the face and I can move the camera back on top of the monitor.

Oh and one last thought. If Intel are listening pleas increase the length of the USE cable on the camera. I had to buy a 2M USB3 extension cable to get the camera to reach to the PC and allow for some slack in the cable for moving it around.

Anyway I hope my experiences help out others in getting their camera working in Windows 10!

Thanks, Daron B.!

I'll receive my camera next week (hopefully) and I'll test it with Windows Hello on Windows 10 build 10240. I was going to use an older firmware/software, but after reading your post I know I can give the latest version a go and, unless something goes south, it should work reasonably well.

I'll report back in here once I have been able to test it!

Cheers!

Hi Daron,

Is your camera working after awaking from sleep?  I get the white screen you mentioned even with the latest drivers (1.4 HF2).

When I reinstall everything seems fine until my computer goes to sleep. Then it doesn't recognize me even though I can see that the camera is on. I set the USB to "allow this device to wake the computer from sleep" to prevent it from shutting down the camera but to no avail.

Cheers

Johan

Guys I generally do not use sleep (I never trust it) and usually shut down. However with the new PC I have been using sleep for the last couple of days. The camera does seem to wake up okay now that I've turned off allowing the USB hubs to go to sleep.

No white screen but instead I have a nice grey one:

(Blurred for security) and recognition is now failing most of the time. Not a good experience. Skype of course still uses the camera in colour and is working fine.

Question, does everyone else have the grey image or is it colour for you?

Hi Daron,

It looks like they are just using the infrared camera (so that it works at night time as well). So, it will be always grayscale.

That is what I thought, but if you check out the other thread:

https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/topic/562241

Todd was getting the image in colour after his rebuild. Plus when I had the 'corrupted image' issue with the older software that looked to be in colour as well.

Alright, so I got my camera today and I've been doing the first tests with it on Windows 10.

I managed to get colour image while setting Windows Hello, but after a restart I was back with grey scale too.
I hope that Intel and Microsoft can work together to figure this out and improve the overall experience.

Cheers!

2.38.5 is quite old. DCM 1.4 has 2.60. You can upgrade directly from 2.38. to 2.60 by installing DCM 1.4 HF2

(You can also upgrade from DCM 1.2 (FW 2.40), DCM 1.3 (FW 2.50) or DCM 1.4 earlier versions to DCM 1.4 HF2.

Hi Colleen et al,

Just wanted to let you know that this website has not been updated with the latest DCM (it still shows 1.3 as the latest):
