Dell inspiron 1525 with 965 express graphics chipset opengl issues

Hi, I have recently purchased a new laptop to replace my old acer with intel gm915 chipset. I run lightwave and blender on the old laptop without any problems.The new dell laptop will not run blender or lightwave properly. the errors seem to be related to opengl. is there a difference between the two chipsets and why would i be likely to have no issues with the older chipset but issues with the 965 chipset??

Update:

Disabled driver and restarted computer using generic windows vista displays and I could run both programs OK. This means there is a problem with the intel drivers not refreshing the displayed image properly. This needs to be escalated.
