Edison Supported OS

Hi guys,

Is there any debian based linux distro that is supported out of the box by the Intel Edison?

Something like raspbian for the raspberry pi for example.

For example, is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS supported at all?, it seems that the specs of the edison could actually run that. I would be happy to run the server version, no Desktop environment needed.

I've seen others say they have run other os on board. I guess the question you need answered is os plus access to gpio, etc pins which are available on yocto image.  At least this is what I'd bf interested in seeing.

Yes, you are correct. That's what I meant by supported, to have access to all (or most) of the features of the Edison, like GPIOs, etc.
