Getting Voice Reco REC_ABORT when hand tracking is enabled?

I have my voice recognition code working perfectly. However, when I try to run it with Hand Tracking on, full mode, as soon as the voice reco thread starts I get a REC_ABORT followed by a REC_END message in a few seconds. Stopping and re-starting the thread gets the same negative result. (Note: The hand tracking code is running in another process that talks to the main app over a second and the hand tracking server launches before the voice reco thread starts).

Has anybody else seen this and has an idea on how to fix it quickly?
