Maximum 945GM Resolution on Dell P2310 Monitor

I am configuring a Dell P2310Monitor as an Extended Desktop for my Toshiba Satellite laptop, running Windows XP SP2. The P2310 is capable of resolution up to 1920x1080. With the laptop display set to 1280 x 800, the Graphics Properties dialog boxallows a selection only up to 1280x1024 resolution for the external monitor. What is the maximum resolution at which the 945GM Express Chipset can drive the external monitor and how to I set this?

is a pretty good set of steps to make sure all the bits/cables are in line to get all resolutions.

have you tried all those steps?
