Well, I assume you realize that using extensions makes your code potentially non-portable, and the particular extension you are using is not widely implemented. That said, we don't, as a general policy, remove support for documented extensions. I cannot envision a circumstance that would have us drop this particular feature.
Pointers to functions may show up in a future standard, though - it's a popular concept.
