Testing on wifi and got "An error occurred while fetching user settings" message

Dear Intel,

I worked with Intel XDK for my personal project for a year. Recently, I just reinstalled the system on my laptop (windows 7). Everything went fine. I installed Intel XDK and then continue working on my project. So when I needed to test, I usually used the wifi test on the real device that already have an app preview installed.

But this time I couldn't get the project list from XDK.  The sequence was : When I opened the app preview, login, then tabbed the "Local Apps". The project from XDK from the my laptop should popped up there on the device, but there was an error message say "An error occurred while fetching user settings" ,and no project listed.

I tried to find what this error is about, google... no luck, in here also no one says about this error.

็Here is what happen :

I needed this feature since my internet speed is not fast. Test over cloud is fine but sometimes I have to test so many times and to wait for the code to be uploaded would too overkill of my time resource.

1000 times thanks in advance!!!

Jay

This bug has been noted and reported to engineering. Not clear what is causing it, seems to have appeared in the past day and may be due to some incorrect behavior for App Preview login. Here's a related post: https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/topic/560618#comment-1831558

In the meantime, I recommend you test using the Debug tab and a USB cable.

Oh is it a bug?  Hey, anyway, I found that I still can test over wifi if I use QRCode instead. Even the error appeared, I attempted to tab the camera, and took a shot on the barcode, and it worked!

In case this may be some workaround for the other those may come across to the same problem.

Many thanks for your reply anyway!

There were some fixes implemented to the login system earlier today, that appears to have fixed the issue. You should be able to use local wifi now.

Ran an update on Intel XDK today and now I'm getting this message again on App Preview on the iPhone. Plus, I have to login again to App Preview even though it's set to remember me.

I asked one of the devs to look into it and will post back when I know more.

Make sure you're running the latest version of App Preview on your iOS device. If you used the Debug tab with iOS to create a "Debbugable App Preview" it may be preventing your copy of App Preview from being updated on your device. The current version is 2.3.3. The simplest way to determine which version is on your device is by touching the App Preview screen with five fingers (takes a little practice).

p.s. The version of the XDK is independent of the version of App Preview and the login system. Upgrading your copy of the XDK has no impact on the problem you are seeing.

Thanks. I came back to state that it had nothing to do with the XDK update and saw your responses. All of my dev's are having this issue - seems to have started last night around 5 PM CDT. We have the latest version of App Preview running (2.3.3). We've been using this daily on a project and it just seemed to stop working late yesterday.

I can run a server app if I push latest from XDK to your servers, just not local app over WiFi.

There was an issue that broke that yesterday and about an hour it should have been fixed, can you confirm that it is fixed? I am unable to test that feature in the office due to the way our network is setup.

This issue should be resolved. Log out of app preview, kill the app, launch and log back in and everything should be back to normal.
