On rare occasions installation of VTune™ Amplifier XE 2013 Update 4 encounters an issue during the automatic uninstallation of the previous VTune Amplifier version, resulting in a kernel hang—all interaction with the host system ceases. Though this necessitates a power cycle to recover, it appears that the failed install does correct conditions in the software stack, and invocation of ./install.sh succeeds on the second try. The issue has been reported to the development team.
