Each and every time I start XDK Version 2571 (Sep 2014), it reports that an update is available. It appears to go off and do some work before momentarily displaying a screen with a progress bar, and then that screen immediately closes. No failure message is displayed, but it is pretty obvious that the update did not install, since the "update is available" notification will be displayed again the next time I start the XDK.
Note that this is the XDK that was installed by the Windows 64bit installer that I ran from the Edison getting statarted page.
Is this a known issue, or is there a workaround?

Update ... A full reinstall of the XDK, and Eclipse seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks.

Dear Elroy,
Does it mean Eclipse can prevent Intel XDK from getting updated?
Could be because of "Gradle script" conflict?

The presence of Eclipse should have no bearing on the ability of the XDK to update. The only conflict with Eclipse is with the adb utility that is used by the Debug and Profile tabs. Gradle scrips only impact builds, which happen in the cloud for the XDK, so any gradle scripts used by Eclipse should also have no bearing on the behavior of the XDK on your system.
