When I tried to do a search in the help system, Microsoft Developer Studio crashed and generated an error report which I'd duly sent to Microsoft. The error signature: AppName:dfdev.exe, ModName:itss.dll; message is unhandled exception: access violation. I had no problem viewing the various manuals. The Internet Explorer running on my system is version 6.0, the operating system is window xp on a Pentium 4.
Searching is ok when I switched the help system preferred collection to the MSDN Library Virtual Studio ( 6.0a). The problem with searching the Compaq Visual Fortran collection persisted when I tried to do it from the Visual C++ help system.
