downloading LATEST drivers just makes it WORST!

hello.. i have a v3618TU COMPAQ presario laptop.. that have a mobile intel 965 express chipset family video card.. and when i update its drivers. which is i download the latest software. When i play games the performance becomes worst!.. using the old driver makes my gamplay smoother than with the new one.. i have a 356 mb video card and when i play games it still suck! my desktop with 64mb video card is better.. do anyone know any kind of solution to make my graphics performance better?..

i really want to know how to mess with the display options of the video card or what so ever. PLEASE TEACH

my problem is, when i play games in myCOMPAQ PRESARIO V3618TUsuch as warcraft 3 or other 3d games.. the game somewhat lags.. what i mean is the video cardis i think too low for the game. the game is still playable BUT im not satisfied.. idontknow why! it says in the DXDIAG that i have a 358mb memory on my video card.. but the games that i play sucks!.. and my old desktop computer has 64mb video and the games run smoother than

plus when i download latest drivers.. and replace the old one, the game quality becomes worst.. i really need help on mximizing the capacity/performance of my video card.. CAN ONYONE HELP?

why is this posible? i thought that downloading lates graphic drivers makes the graphic card perform better. but when i download and installe new drivers, the game/graphics acceleration become worst! im runing a Mobile Intel GM965 Express chipset.. i really thot that my laptop has a very good video card.. and thats why i bought it.. now im beggining to regret buying it. cos my old computer was better when playing games.
