problems with getting micras working

I'm trying to set up micras and relmon so that we can keep an eye on the Phi cards less manually. Unfortunately the documentation in the MPSS user guide is quite sparse. It refers to some config files that don't exist, and there are no examples given in the document to guide setting up micras so it is impossible to get any further than installing the software and starting the daemon. This makes it practically useless. The choice of CSV as a format for the config files seems somewhat dubious too. Interestingly, having installed the MPSS 3.4.1 RPMs, I find that some files seem to be claimed by the RPM but are missing from the (freshly installed) machine: [root@yellow12 ~]# /etc/init.d/micras status Intel(R) micras is running in normal mode [root@yellow12 ~]# rpm -qa mpss-sysmgmt-\* mpss-sysmgmt-micdiagnostic-3.4.1-1.glibc2.12.2.x86_64 mpss-sysmgmt-micras-3.4.1-1.glibc2.12.2.x86_64 mpss-sysmgmt-python-3.4.1-1.glibc2.12.2.x86_64 [root@yellow12 ~]# rpm -ql mpss-sysmgmt-micras /etc/mpss /etc/mpss/micras.redhat /etc/mpss/micras.suse /usr/bin/micrasd [root@yellow12 ~]# less /etc/mpss/micras.redhat /etc/mpss/micras.redhat: No such file or directory [root@yellow12 ~]# rpm -ql mpss-sysmgmt-micdiagnostic /etc/mpss /etc/mpss/Settings.ini /etc/mpss/te_doc.t /usr/bin/MicDiag /usr/bin/cache_workload_k1om /usr/bin/scif_accept_dma_mic_k1om /usr/bin/scif_connect_dma_mic_k1om /usr/bin/vpu_workload_k1om There are also config files with executable permissions, which look a lot like Windows config files rather than anything designed for *nix. For example: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1860 Oct 18 03:06 /etc/mpss/Settings.ini -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1962 Oct 18 03:06 /etc/mpss/te_doc.t
