Hi, Atulchouhan.

Thank you for posting in our Community. When you enabled Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) and opted into “protect my storage,” the software likely attempted to create or modify a RAID volume or set up Accelerated Storage (e.g., Intel Optane caching). If IRST detects a previously non-RAID drive, it may reconfigure metadata or adjust the partition table, causing Windows to see the disk as “unallocated.”

  • Which version of Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) did you install, and on which operating system and build are you running?
  • Before enabling the “protect my storage” option, was your 1 TB HDD recognized correctly in both BIOS/UEFI and Windows (in AHCI mode)?
  • In BIOS/UEFI under SATA settings, is the controller now set to RAID mode, AHCI, or a different setting since you enabled IRST?
  • When you opened the IRST application, did it list your 1 TB drive as part of a new RAID volume, a cache volume, or “Foreign”? If so, what status was shown?
  • Have you checked in Device Manager (under “Disk drives”) to see how Windows is identifying the 1 TB HDD?

Have a nice day!

I have installed Intel rapid storage technology from hp driver support website.
My os is windows 11.
Before making raid 1 my hdd was working fine. I have removed my hdd and only ssd is in my laptop. I Clean reinstall windows 11 and format my ssd by bootable USB. Still my sdd is showing as part of intel raid 1 volume.
In my hp laptop bios there is no storage configuration section so I am not able to change RAID to AHCI.
In intel rat there is no option to non raid. How to get my ssd to normal?

Hello, Atulchouhan.

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed explanation regarding your current system behavior following the installation of Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (IRST). It appears that enabling the “Protect Your Storage” feature may have initiated a RAID 1 configuration between your SSD and HDD. This process typically mirrors data from one drive to another, and in doing so, it may have overwritten or altered the file system on your 1TB HDD, which would explain why it is now appearing as unallocated in Disk Management and why you're seeing duplicate 117GB volumes.

In the meantime, I see your question and I'll get back to you as soon as possible, or once I have more information about this matter.

Hello, Atulchouhan.

To assist you more effectively. I kindly request a few additional details regarding your system’s current configuration:

  1. What is the current RAID level of the system?
  2. When Intel® RST was installed, which specific drives were configured in the RAID array? If possible, please share the brand and model of each drive involved.
  3. Additionally, may I ask which Intel® RST driver version you currently have installed?

This information will help me better understand the setup and provide accurate guidance moving forward.
