SSD supported by Intel® Virtual RAID su CPU (Intel® VROC)

Jump to solution

The SSDs supported by VROC are only those listed on the page https://www.intel.it/content/www/it/it/support/articles/000030310/memory-and-storage/ssd-software.ht...?

Other NVMe SSDs with M.2 form factor are not supported? I would like to use two Samsung MZ-V7S1T0BW SSD 970 EVO PLUS, 1 TB, M.2, NVMe to create a RAID with VROC.

Thanks for your help, Marco

Hello MGreg12,

Thank you for contacting Intel® Memory & Storage Support.

As we understand, you need assistance with your Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC). If we infer correctly we will appreciate if you can review the following information:

·        Based on the Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) Supported Configurations (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000030310/memory-and-storage/ssd-software.h...)

The supported Samsung* drives are the following:

Samsung

SM951*

SM961*

PM953*

PM961*

PM963*

PM983*

Please take into consideration that if you use a not supported "NVME SSDs" we cannot predict the performance or the system behavior and unknown issues can appear.

·        We advise you to contact your motherboard OEM (original equipment manufacturer) to get further information about the tested hardware that will be compatible with your PC, this because every company personalizes and modify their VROC solution on their systems.

We will be looking forward to your reply in case you need further assistance.

Have a nice day.

Thanks for your help Josh. The problem with the list of supported SSDs is that they are very expensive or quite old, with performance way under the last NVMe SSDs. Furthermore it is difficult to find them for online purchase in Italy. So I think I'll try with the SSD of my choice and if VROC will not work I'll fall back on the software RAID of Windows 10.

Thanks again, Marco

Hello MGreg12,

Thank you for your reply,

We may suggest you contacting your Motherboard OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) to get a list of compatible hardware that will work with your board.

Note: Intel® recommends that end-users utilize the SSD/HDD drives tested by their system manufacturer/provider to eliminate the potential performance impact caused by using not validated drives. System manufacturers regularly customize the Intel® solutions to meet the needs of their specific system design. In such cases, the list of compatible hardware may vary.

We will be looking forward to your reply in case you need further assistance or if you want to continue with the troubleshooting in the future.

Have a nice day.
