I upgraded the adapter that came with my HP Mini Stream to the AC-3160 in order to use the AC 5GHz band. It was working perfectly with Windows 8.1. Then I upgraded to 10 and then there is no Bluetooth adapter. Device Manager shows an "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". I've tried with the 17.1.1529.1613 BT driver from 08/10/2015 and 07/29/2015 (seem to be the same) to no avail! I've removed the drivers, removed the unknown USB device from device manager, installed the drivers again and nothing. I've used the Intel Driver Update Utility to get the drivers as well as manual download.
This is my HTPC so I need Bluetooth as that's my keyboard. Is my only option to go back to Windows 8.1???

On our best effort to help you with this issue, this version of this OS uses its own inbox drivers (188.8.131.52) for this adapter so remove any previous versions of the drivers and then let Windows update it for you, and if you still get the same results, you may try the drivers for the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 according to your system architecture. (32 or 64 bit) However, it is important that you know that these drivers were designed to work with the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 and there is no guarantee it will work. Before installing these drivers you might want to do the following:
1 - Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features and Uninstall "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software", if it is installed. When prompted, choose the option to "Discard settings".
2 - In Control Panel, Device Manager, Network Adapters, right click on the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 and Uninstall it. Make sure you mark the option to "Delete the driver software for this device".
3 - Reboot the PC or scan for hardware changes, check device manager and if an older driver is detected and installed, repeat the actions to uninstall and delete it as well. Repeat this process until the OS does not allow deleting the driver, or until the controller shows as Unknown Device.
