So I got an ASUS Zenbook OLED today, and I was all excited to use it and play some low-end games because it is a much better upgrade compared to the old laptop that I had from 5 years ago. However, my new laptop is constantly experiencing connection spikes, which make the game barely playable. I am using my laptop at the exact location where I used my old one, and I ran the "netsh wlan show interfaces" in the terminal to see the signal percentages. For some reason, my new one with Intel AX211 is only getting 28~44% while my old one, AX201, is getting around 70 to 80% at the same location. I tried running the test right next to the router, and my new one scored 93% while my old one scored 95%. I tried turning off power saving and updating my new laptop's wifi drivers, and nothing helped, so now I'm wondering if it is a hardware issue or if the new wifi card has a smaller connection range.
Thanks

Hello aedan1326lai,
Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.
I appreciate your patience and enthusiasm for using your upgraded laptop. Let's work together to resolve the connection spikes you're experiencing. Here are some steps that might help:
- Since the laptop is new, ensure that there are no pending Windows Updates.
- Ensure you have the latest OEM drivers for the Intel AX211, as updates can enhance connectivity. It's a good idea to contact your system manufacturer's support team for guidance on updates and recommended settings to optimize connectivity.
- Review your router settings for best performance; changing the channel or frequency might improve signal strength. Make sure your network settings are correct and try resetting them to default before reconfiguring. You can also ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for help in setting up your network to ensure your new system with Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX211 connects at a good speed.
- Look for any interference near your laptop, like other devices or barriers affecting signal strength.
- Hardware Check: If the problem continues, contact ASUS support to check for known issues with the AX211 or consider a hardware check.
Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need help.
Best regards,
JeanetteC.
