AX210NGW country definition

Hello,

I'm using the AX210NGW board in a panel PC for Offroad equipment under Win10.

The equipment can be used all around the world and the automatic localisation detection seems to be very helpful to allow or block frequency/channel ranges regarding the country of use.

How it really works?

By Country selection in the windows menu (seems not to work), or IP address analysis (no internet access possible) or GPS position, or surrounding frequencies scanning?

Driver = WiFi-23.90.0-Driver64-Win10-Win11

Thanks for your help.

Hello PatrickM_LH,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum.

To assist you effectively with your concern , please share the information below.

1. To clarify, you can use the country selection and IP address analysis of your system? Is that correct?

2. May I know the brand and mode of the Panel PC that you're using?

3. Is the AX210NGW the same wireless card that came with the device from the manufacturer or if you have upgraded the wireless card?

4. What is the name of the App your using to change the country and GPS, use IP analysis?

5. What troubleshooting have you done to address the issue? This is to avoid duplicating the steps that you've already taken to address the issue.

I look forward to your response.

Best regards

Hello JedG,

Please find below the requested information.

1. To clarify, you can use the country selection and IP address analysis of your system? Is that correct?

I can use country selection in the Windows settings but no IP address analysis because no internet access allowed on the panel PC

2. May I know the brand and mode of the Panel PC that you're using?

It's a NOAX Technologies (german manufacturer) panel PC - Logistics serie

3. Is the AX210NGW the same wireless card that came with the device from the manufacturer or if you have upgraded the wireless card?

Yes

4. What is the name of the App your using to change the country and GPS, use IP analysis?

No App to change the parameters. Just Windows settings to change country and Windows API "Windows.Devices.WiFiDirect" to switch ON/OFF the hotspot

5. What troubleshooting have you done to address the issue? This is to avoid duplicating the steps that you've already taken to address the issue.

Checked the emission channel of the board in France -> automatically CH149 and changed the country in Windows settings to move outside UNII3 band but not successfull (South Africa, if I remember correctly)

My request is most to understand the mechanism of "localisation detection" and to be sure of what I have to configure on the panel PC and what is done automatically to be compliant with the different country regulations.

Best regards.

Hello PatrickM_LH,

After review, as you may know, these adapters are subject to legal regulations that vary by country. In some regions, the adapter must be certified together with the antenna used in the system, while in others, certification is required for the entire device. For example, in the United States, the use of antennas with certified wireless modules is regulated under FCC rule parts 15.203, 15.247, and 15.407. These rules are available on the FCC website.

To address your question about location settings, Microsoft has published an article titled: Windows location service and privacy. It explains that Windows uses location services to determine your device’s exact location, which helps apps provide relevant services such as directions or nearby recommendations.

Given your situation, we recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of your panel computer. They can confirm whether adjusting your system’s location settings is sufficient to meet regulatory requirements in your target country. Please note that country-specific type approval is typically managed by the device manufacturer.

With this in mind, I will now close this inquiry. Should you have other questions or concerns, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.
