Applying Advanced Settings to Unattended Driver install

Jump to solution

I would like to deploy a customized PROSet Driver to our company's laptops. My goal is to change the Roaming Aggressiveness, Preferred Band settings, and CCX from the default to a customized setting that fits our environment. Can this be done using the setup.xml file that is included in the PROSet driver zip folder? Below is the default setup.xml file, what would I need to change Roaming Aggressiveness to highest, Preferred Band to 5.2, and CCX Support to Enabled?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

Full

25

CCX_SUPPORT=FALSE

EnableCpApplet=TRUE

I'm using version 19.40.0. The majority of the laptops use 7260 NIC but there will be a few outliers. If I enable CCX in the setup.xml and then apply the driver to an Intel NIC that doesn't support CCX, what will happen?

Thanks!

Hello snaklak,

We understand you have some questions regarding deployment and configuration for multiple systems using Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software. Please check these items regarding the different topics you mentioned:

- In order to create custom packages and profiles, you need to use the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000017246.html IT Administrator Versions for Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software. You can find more information about using the tools and the options available in the following advisories:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005730.html Silent Installation of Intel® WiFi Driver and Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software Version 15.6 or Later

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000006222.html Feature Comparison for Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software Enterprise

- You cannot change the http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005585.html Advanced Intel® Wireless Adapter Settings using the XML file alone. To do this, you must create a custom package using the Administrator Tool; when creating this package, you have to include the Adapter settings in the package, using the configuration desired.

- Regarding CCX functionality, this is becoming a legacy feature and is not installed by default with PROset. You can actually modify the XML file to install this option. This is noted in the following document:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000006222.html Frequently Asked Questions for Enterprise and IT Administrators

- In order to add the CCX profile to different clients, you will need to add the Wireless profile for this connection to your custom installation package as well.

It is important to mention that the installation package can be used with different models of Intel® Wireless Adapters, as long as the adapter is supported by the version of PROset for the OS you are using. For example, the Windows® 10 x64 installer will work well for the 7260, 7265, 8260's, etc.
