Are there ubuntu command lines to turn off 5GHz band on AX210 Wi-Fi card

Looking for command lines to enter to turn off various radio frequencies when testing for FCC emission. Example I only want to connect to the 2.4GHz radio, so need to stop the 5GHz and 6GHz transmitters from randomly trying to search out what networks are around.

Please advise if anyone knows how to do this, possibly using iwconfig ?

Hi Jason_B,

I understand that you would like to know if there is a Ubuntu command line to turn off the 5 GHz band on AX210. Please allow me to further assist you with this.

First, I would like to set your expectations by saying that I am going to ask a series of questions to narrow down the recommendations I could provide. If you may, kindly share the following details below:

  1. For the record, why would you would like to know the command line?
  2. Are you experiencing any issues with the 5 GHz bandwidth?
  3. Have you done any troubleshooting? If so, please specify.
  4. What is your router/modem model?

Furthermore, I hope that you download and install an Intel tool that will scan your system. Don't worry; there will be no personal information to be collected. To get the tool, please visit this link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18895/26735/intel-system-support-utility-for-the-linux-operating-system.html

Please run the program, select everything, then scan, click next, save the result log, and upload the text file in your next response.

I will be waiting for your response.

It took so long to get a response, so have moved on.

We were taking a device for compliance testing and wanted to turn off all but the channel bands being tested. There isn't anything wrong, I just wanted to streamline the testing process but got no support until you reached out 2 months after.

For example when testing the 2.4GHz band, I would like to turn off the 5Ghz and 6GHz bands

Similarly when testing the 5GHz band I wanted to turn off the 2.4GHz and 6 GHz bands

etc.

I thought that I had remembered at one point seeing some ubuntu command lines that could turn on/off the bands but couldn't find them in a search so reached out for assistance.

Thank you for letting me know.

First, I truly appreciate you for sharing the testing procedure you are going to take. Nonetheless, please allow me to check what else I could be of help with.

In order for me to assist you with this, I am just wondering if this testing is part of any government or military research. Furthermore, I would like to know if you were able to complete your testing. Since the thread has been created 2 months ago.

I will be waiting for your response.

No military or government use here. Just OEM.

We managed to complete the testing by having the test site use bandpass filters for the frequencies not being tested. A bit of a pain but still sufficient. For future testing it would be nice to have in our pocket that we can turn on/off bands if that is possible. Are you able to let me know if that is even possible?

Thanks
