Bluetooth missing on 7260 Wireless-N

I have been working on two HP ProDesk 400 G3 Mini computers. I happened to look at Device Manager and noticed that no Bluetooth showed although the Intel 7260-N supposedly has Bluetooth. I upgraded them to the latest BIOS and installed the latest Bluetooth driver for them from the HP site, but still nothing shows up. I checked BIOS and Bluetooth seems to be enabled there. Any ideas?

Hello johnptd,

Thanks for posting in our communities. We understand that two pf your HP Pro Desk 400 G3 Mini* are not showing Bluetooth as part of the devices.

In order to better assist you, we would like to gather more details about one of the systems. Please provide us with the Intel® System Support Utility report:

1. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-?product=91600 Download the latest Intel® SSU.

2. Select to include "everything."

3. Name and save the report.

On Device Manager, are any "Unknown" or "Other" devices listed? Also, have you tried manually installing the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005559/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html Bluetooth driver?

Best regards,

I have attached the SSU log. I have installed the latest Bluetooth driver from HP's support site for this computer. There are no "Unknown" or "Other" devices listed in Device Manager.

Hello johnptd,

Thanks for your reply.

Checking the systems specifications, we noticed the wireless adapter is an optional device. Were the adapters installed by HP* directly or are they an addition? If so, did you purchase the wireless modules directly from HP*?

Please make sure the adapters and antennas are properly connected as showed in the system

We purchased the PC as is from Provantage. I assume they got the PC directly from HP so whatever HP put in the PC is what we ended up with. We did no modifications to it. I am not about to take the PC apart. I know that the Wireless connection was working. I could run the diagnostics on one of the systems to see what that might reveal. I have attached the OEM.inf file related to the 7260 adapter if that is of any help.

Hello johnptd,

Thanks for your reply.

It seems Bluetooth is either disabled from BIOS (though I wasn't able to find if this is an actual setting for these systems based on the manuals) or the wireless adapter hardware isn't properly installed as there is no trace of the Bluetooth portion at Device Manager.

We understand you won't open the system to confirm if the hardware is properly installed. We recommend to contact the reseller or https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/oems.html HP* directly in order to get further assistance.

Please let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.

Best regards,

I have found some information that there may be two different 7260 Wireless adapter models: one with Bluetooth and one without. If this is the case, I suspect we may have one without Bluetooth which may explain what is going on. I have found something else interesting in the specs for the HP ProDesk 400 G3 DM PC. It says this for the wireless adapter: (Intel® 7260 802.11 a,b,g,n 2x2 M.2 Bluetooth® Disabled NIC). It seems to indicate Bluetooth is disabled but I am not sure if it is possible to somehow enable it. Can you shed any light on this?

Thanks,

JohnD

Hello johnptd,

Thanks for your reply. According to the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-7260-bluetooth-brief.html Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Product Brief, there are three different parts for this adapter: 7260HMW, 7260NGW and 7260SDW. However, all of them include Bluetooth.

It is possible the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) has disabled Bluetooth* on selected models. We recommend https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp to contact them in order to confirm your adapter exact part model and if they offer any means to enable Bluetooth* on it.
